Wirksworth’s runners are continuing to battle their way through lockdown as we all fight it out in the club’s handicap league. During the winter, we run a 5-mile time trial from Cromford traffic lights to Matlock and back. The segment forms part of the club’s handicap league with the points available being the same as the number of runners who have done it.
Sarah Chamberlain (pictured at Carsington) catapulted herself up the women’s standings with her latest run, in 41:49. Brian Clements also attempted the segment again yesterday but couldn’t quite match his already impressive 40:27. Meanwhile, young Zack Hubbard is improving at an astonishing rate at the moment. Zack broke the 40-minute barrier a couple of days ago.
Current standings on this segment:
Sarah Chamberlain (41:49) 9 points
Zack Hubbard (39:59) 8 points
Brian Clements (40:27) 7 points
John Potter (30:55) 6 points
Chris Gillott (34:49) 5 points
James Watson (37:17) 4 points
Chris Hubbard (44:16) 3 points
Mark Crawshaw (36:19) 2 points
Simon Edwards (41:30) 1 point
