A bright but chilly Sunday morning found 15 Wirksworth runners making their merry way to Bramcote Hills Park for the fourth race in the BDL winter season.
The frosty temperatures and firm ground were a welcome change after the rain and deep mud of the two previous races and as the mercury soared to the dizzy heights of 1°C, several of the hardiest team members stripped down to their vests for the race. The course itself consists of one short loop and two long loops around the park, with a couple of tough little climbs along the way and a nice fast downhill finish.
Great running from everyone in the team, with 7 of the 15 finishing in the top 100 and Chris Sleath putting in a very impressive 3rd place. Disappointment for Brian Clements, who set off well but had to retire from the race with a calf problem, hope it gets better soon, mate.
No disappointment on the cake front, though. Carie pulled out a blinder with her delicious ‘Swedish Kladdkaka’, teaching us all a wonderful new word!
Well done everybody!
