Teversal Derby Runner BDL 18 April

By Simon Edwards

With full team results still to come a healthy contingent of 13 WRC runners did the club proud in the first race of the Derby Runner BDL Summer League.  The women’s team of six ran superbly and packed well up the leader board, with Stef claiming an impressive 26th place, just ahead of Bethany in 27th and Kat in 41st.  Jenny running in her fist BDL for a while was hoping for a 40 minute run out as part of her marathon training, but was far too quick on the night and came 50th in 37.40!  The ever consistent Liz was just behind in 53rd with Tanya also, on a rare BDL night out, coming a very creditable 114th out of 129 women.  And don’t forget Tanya isn’t in it for the racing!

For the men Steve is really starting to show some speed to go along with his fantastic strength and endurance and was first WRC man home in 64th, in what was a really competitive field.  What can you say about Peter, other than wow!. After completing the Paris Marathon running 7.19 per mile, he skipped around the 4.64 Teversal course in 6.38s, coming in 69th position.  Next home and debuting in the summer league was Jake, who was pleased with his impressive 128th, followed by Simon 139th, Dave 159th, Mark 164th and Brian running through some hip discomfort, but completing the scoring seven in 301st.

As ever a great atmosphere with other club runners was made even more enjoyable with the reward of Kat’s Cakes. Well done everyone, all welcome on 9th May when the league visits Cromford Meadows for a little jaunt up the Incline to the Black Rocks Car Park.  Let’s see if we can beat our baker’s dozen at the next race.
