A moist and murky Tuesday evening last week saw 8 Wirksworthians tackle the Trevor Milner Riber Run.
Starting at Lea Green, the 4.2 mile course heads off with a fast downhill start into the woods before winding its steeply undulating way upwards towards Riber Castle. The effort is eventualy rewarded with a lovely fast, grassy descent back into the now very dark gloomy woods before a short final climb to the finish. A great effort from all the WRC runners, in particular John Hobson, who seems to be going from strength to strength, finishing in 19th place and knocking over 3 minutes off his previous year’s effort, and a terrific battle between Carie and Claire at the finish. Also, congratulations to Jackie Ludlum who scooped the much coveted ‘1st Local Lady Dressed As A Fairy’ prize. Admittedly, a ‘niche’ category but you’ve got to be in it to win it!
