I think it’s fair to say that the Parkrun phenomenon has transformed running participation in this country, and it’s doing a great job of getting both the young and the not so young off the couch and out onto the parks and trails.  Just last weekend, WRC members did this and apologies for all those I’ve missed off.

Whitworth Thread
Bob King and Dave Spencer
Bob launched himself onto the podium with 3rd place overall.  Whilst alcoholic reward was disappointingly absent and there didn’t seem to be a ribboned coat, the Captain will no doubt smite Bob’s shoulder at the next club night.  Bob did earn the respect of his fellow athletes and a bucketful of kudos on strava, and that’s what counts.

Markeaton Parkrun
John Potter did his fair share this weekend by volunteering as the 25 minute pacer at the Markeaton parkrun.  He came in at 24:52 giving his group a great target.

Exeter Parkrun
Alex Clemmitt and Eva Moncaster stopped off in Exeter – as a tourist runner- on route to Cornwall. Eva got a new double buggy pb, whilst pushing both their toddlers, of 27:35. There are dfferent pb targets, with and without buggy!  It was a lovely route along an estuary in warm balmy weather.
