A fantastic turnout this week! We start at Bakewell, where Bob King (19:31) and Rachel Hathaway (27:08 with Betsy) both ran course PBs! Rachel’s time was impressively over a minute quicker than her previous best (28:15 with Jango) – she remains the only WRC member to have dog-adjusted handicaps in our club league. Stacy Newton continued the impressive running form that he showed at Holmebrook Valley BDL to plonk 20:16 down as his opening parkrun time, and you know you’re running well when you finish just four seconds behind Mark Crawshaw. Mark has been struggling with a bad back but he’s always running strongly, injured or not – his 20:12 is only 42 seconds off his best at Bakewell. Also running strongly was Dave Spencer, just 11 seconds off his Bakewell PB with 20:34. Tanya Rountree opened up her Bakewell account with 32:52, crossing the line with Jo Butt (32:51).
It wasn’t just Bakewell where the PBs were happening either – Adam Leighton sliced a massive 39 seconds off his previous best with 23:03 at Markeaton. The sub-23 is surely imminent? Brian Clements is making his way back from a bout of man flu, yet still recorded a solid 25:08.
