Another great week at the Markeaton parkrun for Wirksworth, in spite of the drizzle. Jo Butt was our star runner this week, slicing 50 seconds(!) off her PB and ducking under 30 minutes for the first time with 29:29. Kate Watson ran a solid 27:06 and Rachel Hathaway ran 30:10, which is effectively a sub-30 when you consider the time lost at the mass start.
Nearer the front of the field, John Potter (18:49), Mark Crawshaw (19:55) and Dave Spencer (20:53) all ran strongly, all within just 2 seconds of their Markeaton PBs, Mark’s time being agonisingly close… he’s now run all of his last four Markeaton parkruns between 19:55 and 19:59.
Meanwhile, Brian Clements was, once again, flying the Wirksworth flag down in London, at the Crystal Palace parkrun, and, as the weariness in his legs from his recent marathon starts to wear off, he’s nearly back to his best at 5km too, smashing 32 seconds off his time from last week to clock 24:20.
