Sunday race commitments (notably the Derby half marathon) and the odd cold here and there meant that just three Wirksworth runners went to Bakewell this week, where there was a massive 56-second course PB for Jo Butt. Jo’s 28:56 made her previous best there look pedestrian as she shot herself up from 17th to 10th in the parkrun section of the club league. It’s also her lifetime 5km PB – well done, Jo! Tanya Rountree also ran a Bakewell course PB of 27:02, though this was the first time she’d gone at her own pace, so this was setting out a realistic marker for her future Bakewell parkruns. Tanya has also already run faster this year at the tougher Markeaton course and she continues to lead the parkrun section of the club league. Meanwhile, Brian Clements was hardly taking it easy with his 25:08 but he wasn’t quite at full throttle for this one – his Bakewell best remains at an extremely healthy 23:51.
