Victory at Bakewell!  Chris Sleath won the Bakewell parkrun this week in a time around 17 minutes.  Sadly, Chris didn’t have his barcode with him, but John Potter was there to vouch that Chris was definitely running very fast for Wirksworth.  These are exciting times for WRC when you consider that twin brothers Dan and Chris have only recently taken to running, both of them having competed at high levels in different sports in the past – so expect to see many other great results in the months to come.  John Potter cycled to Bakewell, where his daughter Jennifer was sat patiently in her pushchair, waiting for a 5km freebie.  John obliged and was pretty chuffed to tick off his sub-20-with-a-buggy ambition in a time of 19:37.  This left Jennifer’s mum, Laura Jones, free to record a child-free PB of 32:52.  (all 3 pictured)

At Markeaton, another proud mother, Tanya Rountree ran again with son AIdan as he recorded his PB of 33:15.  Tanya and Aidan were Wirksworth’s only representatives at parkrun last week.  Simon Edwards took it easy at Markeaton this week and went round in 24:08.

On the road, Chris Gillott put in a fantastic effort at the NWIP (No Walk In the Park) race in Chesterfield.  Chirs zoomed round in 20:26
