The big news this week comes on the road at the Marshall Drive Parkrun in Brotton, North Yorkshire, where Bob King wore his vest proudly into the silver medal slot with 20:27. This is Bob’s highest ever placing at a parkrun and, in the form he’s in, there’s no reason why he won’t go one step further at some point soon. His 10 club-vest points also saw him restore his lead in the club league ahead of Chris Gillott and Stacy Newton.
Locally, there was a tough headwind on the 2.5km out leg at Bakewell this week, followed strangely by more of a cross-wind than a tail-wind on the way back to base In spite of the difficult conditions, Mark Crawshaw (20:18) and Dave Spencer (20:28) both ran pretty well. Dave had already cycled to the event with John Potter (23:28), who, mindful of his next-day triathlon, was trying to help Brian Clements with a sub 23:30. Brian came close and ran an impressive course PB of 23:51 – he will be back to smash the 23:30 barrier when the wind has died down.
