Four WRC members were at Bakewell this week. Chris Gillott has been running extremely well lately, and he continued his good form with a course PB of 20:02. Mark Crawshaw was hot on his heels all the way, finishing in 20:06. Lurking just behind the pair of them, clocking 20:10, was a rather special parkrunner, namely Paul Sinton-Hewitt (pictured), the founder of parkrun. The first ever parkrun was on 2nd October, 2004, at Bushy park in London and any quick investigation into parkrun’s evolution since is truly inspirational. Back to Bakewell, Dave Spencer clocked 21:32, whilst Stacy Newton’s man flu made sure that 25:33 was the best he could sensibly manage this week. John Potter was Billy-no-mates at Markeaton; his 18:46 stuck him in 5th place.
On the road, Brian Clements’ 24:05 was just 6 seconds off his course PB at the Crystal Palace parkrun, whilst Ceri Stewart’s 20:43 at Newborough Forest saw her podium (yes, that is a verb these days!) yet again, finishing in 3rd place.
