Top performances all round this week…
The Watsons got on their bikes and headed south to Markeaton. Kate, jumped off and ran a course PB of 23:11, an absolutely outstanding one minute 29 seconds better than her previous best and catapulting her into 3rd place in the parkrun section of the club league. Dad, James ran extremely well too, his 21:46 was just 6 seconds off his best at Markeaton.
46 runners went under 20 minutes at Bakewell this week and Wirksworth provided 3 of them. Bob King ran a course PB of 19:30, just ahead of Mark Crawshaw (pictured with Bob) who ran comfortably inside the 20-minute mark with 19:42. To give you an idea of the strength of the field, John Potter’s 18:29 (a time he is rightly proud of) was only enough for 16th place! The winner of the race was faster than 15:44 but didn’t deem this worthy of remembering his barcode – in fact, half of the top 12 (who all finished in under 18 minutes) didn’t bring their barcode! Steph Solomon cycled to the race with John and still got off her bike to run 23:57, just 3 seconds outside her PB.
Further afield, Alex Clemitt (24:59) and Eva Moncaster (28:03) were flying the Wirksworth flag at the Exeter riverside parkrun. Eva was pushing a double buggy with 28kg of children in it!
