Five Wirksworth runners made a late call to run at Markeaton instead of Bakewell because of the snow, and what a good decision it was for James Watson, who ran a course PB of 21:52, catapulting him into the lead in the parkrun section of the club league. John Potter also left everything out on the course to equal his Markeaton PB of 18:46. Mark Crawshaw, committed to the club, ran mindful of his next-day BDL commitment, still clocking a very fast 20:24, though a good 30 seconds off the kind of form we’ve been seeing from him lately. Tanya Rountree was running her first parkrun of the year, her 30:28 was not quite the blistering form she showed off at Swansea at the end of last year, but she’ll be back around the 28-minute mark before the winter’s finished. Jo Butt also ran well with 30:39, just a little outside the 30 minutes she’s been regularly targetting lately.
