It was sunny this week at Markeaton, though the course was waterlogged in places from Friday’s torrential downpour! 5 WRC members didn’t mind the consequent wet shoes though… Mark Crawshaw (20:05), Stacy Newton (20:30), Dave Spencer (21:44), Brian Clements (23:52) and John Potter (24:03) all proudly paraded the Wirksworth colours round the puddles in the sunshine. Stacy’s time was a massive course PB as it was his first full throttle attempt at the course. Brian’s time was just 7 seconds off his course PB, fantastic running!
Elaine Stone (pictured) had a club league lead to consolidate and went to Shipley park to bag her 10 club vest points for 5km. She didn’t just go through the motions though – Elaine ran a course PB of 24:49! Sarah Chamberlain also ran well with 30:52. Sarah has done parkrun at Shipley 9 times now.
Meanwhile, Chris Gillott was slotting in yet another sub-21 at Bakewell. His 20:57 on Saturday morning is not quite the dizzy heights of the 20:14 he ran earlier this year, but it’s not far off!
