Wirksworth’s Peter Johnston capped off a brilliant year of running at the weekend with a time of 3 hours 19 minutes 40 seconds at the Oulton Park marathon. Peter is well on course to achieve his 2020 miles target for 2020 – the only thing that has stopped him running every single day of the year is a recent emergency appendectomy! Peter is without a doubt one of the club’s best marathon runners and has proved time and time again that he knows exactly how to tame this 42-km beast. Well done, Peter!
We wait eagerly to see what challenge Peter is going to set himself for 2021.
Also running in club colours was John Potter who, despite struggling with a nasty stitch, still put in a great time of 1:25:43 for the half-marathon distance on this tricky, undulating track. Even though John might have been disappointed, his time and continuing efforts this year are an inspiration to the rest of the club.
