… the Parkrun journey continued.  Brian reports from his pb weekend.

There is no better way to start the weekend (with or without hangovers) than setting off from Wirksworth at 8ish on a Saturday morning to Markeaton Park Run. Last weekend was a Personal Best extravaganza… ( Monday night training sessions do get you results). The intrepid John Potter ran after a 15 mile bike ride to get a PB 18.58, Bob joined the sub 20 club with 19.52 and Mark again broke 20 mins with 19.59…Brian came in with a sub 24…23.53 and Tanya  achieved a storming PB with 28.18. The return trip always sparks lively topical debate from  “Parking Wardens – What are they good for?” to “shall we sue Mickleover Running club for nicking WRC colours”. What more could one ask, as you return along the B5023 soaking up the scenery to the ‘Gem in the Peak’. If you wish to join this merry band of eclectic runners and cyclists, a whatsapp Park Run group has been created so we can share info on car sharing, cycling, timings and rendezvous point – PBs are not compulsory.

Meanwhile, Claire and Jackie had something a bit steeper in mind and did the inaugural Fell n Back race.  “A great fell race, 12 miles and the uphills were shocking but Clare Eardley got me round (bless her heart). I would run it again next year.  There was cake.”
