This weekend saw Chris Hill, Stef Brassington and James Watson heading to Bakewell to take part in the Monsal Trail April Half Marathon and 10k.
In near perfect conditions on both days, two claimed silverware – Chris coming second overall out of a field of 330 with a superfast time of 1:21.42 in the HM – busting his PB by 10 minutes. Powered by pastry (from his parent’s wedding anniversary party the day before) he enjoyed the gentle incline from Bakewell station to the turnround at Millers Dale.

Earlier in the day, Stef had come seventh overall in the 10K (and third woman) – setting a new PB of 46.34 although her watch gave her a time of 45.42. Whatever the case, she loved the course and the conditions too, quickly finding her pace after a manic mass start of over 400 runners.

On the Saturday, James had also benefitted from the beautiful weather too and ran a super-fast (for him!) race in 1.46.59. He was also delighted to be running in a place where his impersonations of steam trains were both historically appropriate and appreciated.
