The day of the cake run dawned bright and sunny, so we packed our suncream and sunglasses expecting Nicky’s prior arrangement for the weather to still be in place. To our surprise, raindrops started to appear on the duck pond as we assembled in Hartington!

Not to be deterred, we set off towards Pilsbury and were rewarded with plenty more raindrops along with beautiful views. It made for some unusually flat running!

We stopped off to take in the sights of Pilsbury Castle before continuing on, eventually crossing the River Dove at Crowdicote. From there, we headed around to Sheen before returning to Hartington.

A lovely 14km followed by a feast in Hartington Farm Shop and Cafe! A spectacular array of cakes was on offer which made choosing just one extremely difficult!

Thanks to Nicky as always for her organisation and to Graham S for route planning this month. If you’d like to join us next month, we’ll be running from Belper on Saturday 15th July.
