Wirksworth’s John Potter ran in the Derby Sprint triathlon this morning. There were some very good triathletes in the race but John managed to run himself into 11th overall, in a time of 56:49, which was enough to win his age group.
There were 247 finishers in the race, which was extremely well organised and very safe from a COVID perspective. If any Wirksworth members were keen to travel to the dark side and try a triathlon, this would be a great course to start on. The swim was today shortened to 300m due to the social distancing measures in place, but usually it is a 400m swim, a 19km bike ride and a 4.8km run.
