We had 12 runners for this month’s edition of the cake run, this time setting off from Cromford Mills. The weather blessed us with a perfect, early spring day (actual warmth in the sunshine!) resulting in some jokes about needing suncream.
We set off on the planned 14km route with plenty of enthusiasm, not quite realising how many hills lay ahead. Rising quickly up from Cromford, we were soon at Riber Castle.
From there we descended down into Matlock, via Lumsdale Falls.
After taking in the views of the River Derwent, we quickly powered uphill again and found ourselves in Bonsall. Not long until we were back at Cromford Mills. Overall, we scaled an impressive 600m of elevation which resulted in some tired legs in the cafe after! The cakes were very well-deserved.
Thanks as always to Nicky for organising and to Ray who led this month’s run.
If you’d like to join us, next month we’ll be running at Hathersage on Saturday 18th March.
