Report by Bob King
A cold, frosty Sunday morning in Ilkeston was the setting for the third race in the BDL winter cross country league.
A new race on the calendar, (replacing the usual Bakewell show ground) the 5-mile course is run around the very accurately named ‘Manor Flood’ area of Ilkeston.
The venue may have changed but the freezing conditions and ankle-deep mud were very much present and correct.
In fact, so treacherous were the conditions that James Watson took a spectacular nose dive before he even got to the start!
The race itself was tough going (a proper cross country course) but saw good running from all of the Wirksworth team…and the very welcome return of Ricky Curzon. Always good to see you, buddy!
Results to follow…
Good running everybody, see you at the next one!
