Sunday morning saw the 3rd year of the Ashbourne 10 with options to run 5k, 10k or 10 miles and canicross categoies available in each distance. The varying-length races all consist of an out-and-back on the Tissington trail from Ashbourne leisure centre, which means a slight incline all the way out and a potentially fast downhill return.  Four Wirksworth runners took part and managed to spread themselves across all four options!
In the 5k race, Dave Spencer continued his recent good form with a double haul of trophies, bagging 2nd place overall and 1st M55 in a time of 22:12, even more impressive considering he paused along the route for a quick wrestling match with one of the canicross dogs, which he also won by fall and a submission.
Speaking of canicross, Rachel Hathaway (with Jango and Betsy) competed in the canicoss 10k, finishing 12th overall in a time of 57:09 and scooping 1st F45 in the process.
Joanna Butt was flying the WRC flag in the houndless 10k, putting in another stirling performance with a finishing position of 148th in a time of 1:08:28
Finally, in the 10-mile race, Bob King managed to resist the temptation of the 5k and 10k turnaround points to grunt out a very respectable 7th-place finish and 2nd M45 in a cracking time of 1:08:36.
Good running, team!
