On the 8th September four fearless Wirksworth runners set out on a drizzly and blustery Saturday morning to tackle the formidable 20 mile Nine Edges fell race that follows the 9 gritstone edges from Derwent down to Baslow.
John Hobson had set himself a goal to finish within 3hrs 30 and just scraped inside that with a time of 3:29:29, coming home at the front of a pack of 5 runners within 10 seconds of one-another to claim 50th place (of 189 runners)
Birthday girl Emma Wild continued her return from injury coming in at 4:15:55, 118th place and with a bonus souvenir mouthful of soil. Emma was quickly followed by Deb Wooliscroft in 4:16:34 to claim 121st place.
Brian Clements put in a strong performance to finish 3rd MV60 in 4:39:50.
